Bihar Located halfway between West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh, Bihar is bordered by Nepal to the north and south to Jharkhand. A center of power, learning and culture in antiquity, this is the historical region where Buddhism originated and was practiced for the first time. Although, forming part of large tracts of fertile plains, along with the river Ganges that traverses the state, the economy of Bihar is largely service-oriented. Hindi, Urdu and several regional dialects are spoken in this third most populous state of India , where at present the population characterized as mixed-religion.
