Ladakh is a region in the state of Jammu and Kashmir inhabited by people of Tibetan and Indo Aryan descent. This region is known as roof of India and is surrounded by great Himalayas. This cold desert is located between the main great Himalayas and Kunlun mountain range.
This sparsely populated region has culture and history closely relating to Tibet. The land of high mountain passes, mighty Indus valley, azure blue sky reflecting in the mystical lakes and astounding beauty of rugged terrain draws people to its beauty and mystical aura.

Picture-perfect gompas perched on hillocks with interiors colourfully awash with the murals and statuary of countless bodhisattvas are most inviting feature in the dry arid terrain. This dry mountain desert remains frozen for almost six months during winters. The mighty Indus river freezes to stillness and so do the high altitude lakes with glaciers in the mountains surrounding them.
