Chalakudy – Kerala

Chalakudy is a municipal city located on the banks of the river in the district of Thrissur Chalakudy of the State of Kerala in India . It is the base camp for travelers to Athirappilly and the Vazhachal Falls.

It is located on National Highway 47 and located about 36 km (23 miles) north of the city of Kochi , the commercial capital of Kerala and 30 km (19 miles) south of Thrissur, the cultural capital of Kerala. The name “Chalakudy” is derived from the word “Shalakudy”, meaning a place where sacrifices are made. The best time to visit Chalakudy is from December to March and also in the monsoon season.
