MorningMehrauli – Qutub Minar Complex – Bylanes of Mehrauli

Start early to explore riches scattered around Mehrauli, more than 450 monuments dating from 10th century to the british era. The tour will have us meandering through the streets and monuments around the Mehrauli area, a place strewn with many a Sufi saint – tales of powerful Sultans and humble mendicants, of ecstatic poets, of music and celebration.. Join us, as we traverse the lives and poetry of the Sufi Masters of yore and discover their magic still continues to sparkle and at times thrive amidst the chaos of the modern city.

These architectural marvels are part of the ridge forest and Mehrauli village. A good way to explore the ruins is by our guided walking tour. After 2 hrs. walk and wealth of knowledge we move to Qutub Minar Complex.

We visit one of Delhi‘s ancient ruins of Delhi where first Monument got erected by the sultans of Mehrauli and subsequent rulers expanded on their work, hiring the finest craftsmen and artisans to set in stone the triumph of Muslim rule. Explore the first city of Delhi, Lal Kot. There’s a sound-and-light/decorative light show from 7pm to 9pm. You can come back and attend if interested.

Note: The Qutub Festival of Indian classical music and dance takes place here every October/November.

Afternoon: Lunch – Hazarat Nizamuddin

Lunch near the complex at local restaurant and enjoy discussions on the morning wanderings. Next we move towards Hazarat Nizamuddin, Dargah of Hzt. Nizamuddin and explore Tablighi market and Calligraphy shop, old ancestral graveyard in Gadariya wali gali and Dargah of Pir Vilayat.

Later we walk and explore Dargah Hzt. Inayat Khan, Musafir Khan road to Baoli gate, Baoli gate to 64 pillars, 64 pillar to Mehboob hotel, Mehboob hotel to inside basti (nal wali mosque), Nal wali Mosque to Tilak wali gali, Tilak wali gali to court, Court to Imam Bara. At Imam Bara we conclude the day.

Qawwalis happen in Dargah Hzt. Inayat Khan on Friday evenings only. Those who want to join qawwali in a very peaceful environment should come for the walk on Fridays. Once they finish the walk visitors can come to the dargah and listen to qawwalis.
