Kodungalloor Bhagavathi Temple,Temple, Thrissur – Kerala

Kurumbakavu Bhagavathi Temple is located about 1.5 km southeast of the bus stop. It is assumed that the placement of the idol of Kánnaki was made around 1800 years ago by Cherán Chenkuttuvan of the Chera dynasty. The deity who presides over the temple is Bhadrakali (Goddess Kali). Temple is open from 4 am to 12:30 p.m. During the festival time and 4 am-8 pm on other days.
On the eastern side of the main altar there is a secret chamber from which a door opens to the sanctuary. The sanctuary is crowded on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and is busy during Sabarimala Season as well. The most famous festival of Kurumbakavu temple is the Bharani festival or Kavutheendal, which begins in the Bharani asterism, according to the month of Malayalam Meenam (March-April).
The sacrifices of animals that were once part of the festival of this temple are forbidden, but the pilgrims still drink liquor and sing obscene songs, all the way from their villages to the sanctuary, as part of the ceremony. At the end of the festival, the temple is closed and opens the seventh day, after the Aswathi asterism. Another important festival in this temple is the Navarathiri.
