Nahargarh Fort

Nahargarh Fort stands on the rugged hillside of Aravali and forms a stunning backdrop of northern Jaipur . It looks more elegant when they light up at night. The fortress dominates the city and offers a dazzling view of the city lights. It was built in 1734 and expanded in 1868. Residence Nahargarh meaning the house of tigers was built by Jai Singh to bolster Amber’s defense.

Legend has it that it was named after Nahargarh Nahar Singh, a prince whose spirit would destroy the building and stop its advance. So after a Tantric he invoked the spirit, he agreed to withdraw the condition that the fort is named after him.

The Madhavendra Bhawan, Built by Sawai Madho Singh has a unique set of 12 identical suites for queens and in the head is a suite by the same king. Rooms are connected by corridors and retain some delicate frescoes, as well as toilets and kitchen fireplaces. It was used by members of the royal family for the summer excursion and is still today a favored picnic spot. Cafe Durg just above the entrance sells food and drink, while the restaurant Padao to the west sells drinks at sunset.
