Location: About 32 km from Thiruvananthapuram . A repository of some of the rarest medicinal herbs, the Neyyar Dam is a popular picnic spot with a lake and a picturesque place of prey. The lake formed by the dam across the Neyyar River is the bluest of blues, making irresistible boating for tourists.
The Neyyar Wildlife Sanctuary of which the prey is a part is the habitat of more than a hundred species of fauna including Asian elephant, tiger, leopard, slender Loris and reptiles such as King Cobra, Tortoise Travancore etc. A center Crocodile breeding and a lion park safari are also found on the site of the dam
