This adventure trek to the source of the holy River Ganges is a mystical experience with peak view at Gomukh. The sacred river Ganges flows down from Gangotri Glacier and entrenches large part of north India before amalgamating in deep ocean at Bay of Bengal. The trek takes you to Gomukh (cow’s mouth), the mythological source of the River Ganges, which is at the snout of the Gangotri glacier.

Day 01 : Rishikesh – Uttarkashi (180 kms/ 5-6 hrs)

This morning after early breakfast you will start your journey towards Uttarkashi. Crossing small towns of Chamba & Tehri you will reach your destination in about 6 hours. Check in at hotel in Uttarkashi after freshening up explore the local market on your own. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 02: Uttarkashi – Gangotri Gangotri Gomukh Trek

After leisurely morning and breakfast you will be driven to Gangotri en-route you will see the beautiful valley of Harsil. In reaching Gangotri check in at Guest house and explore the quaint town, visit the temple that was originally constructed by Gorkha General, Amar Singh Thapa. Legend say that King Bhagirath prayed to Shiva on a slab of rock recognized as Bhagirath shila near the temple. Stay overnight at Guest house.

Day 03 : Gangotri – Bhojwassa

In the morning after breakfast start your trek towards Bhojwassa via Chirbasa. From Gangotri you will move along the beaten track towards Chirbasa, which is on tree line. The entire trek today is along the roaring Bhagirathi River. As you cross over Chirbasa the terrain becomes barren. From Chirbasa you will trek further to Bhojwassa, the entire trail passes through dense forest. At Bhojwassa there is a small temple and a campsite near the river. After setting up the camp enjoy the time exploring the area and watch the beautiful sunset amidst Bhagirath group of peaks. Dinner and overnight stay in Camp.

Day 04: Bhojwassa – Gomukh – Bhojwassa

Early morning enjoy the panoramic view of Bhagirathi group of peaks. After breakfast trek to Gomukh, the source of the Ganges. Gomukh is where the water of Ganga trickles down from the glaciers. The sages called it ‘Gomukh’, because in the distant past, it probably appeared like a cow’s mouth. Explore the area and trek back to Bhojwassa for overnight stay.

Day 05: Bhojwassa – Gangotri – Uttarkashi

After breakfast you trek down to Gangotri and from there you will be driven to Uttarkashi. On reaching Uttarkashi check in to hotel for dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 06: Uttarkashi – Haridwar

After breakfast drive to Haridwar via Rishikesh. On reaching Haridwar you will be dropped at a place of convenience for onward journey.
