Great Indian Desert, The Thar is a large arid region of the Indian subcontinent covering 200000 sqkm. This golden desert forms a natural boundary between India and Pakistan and is 18th largest desert and 9th largest subtropical desert of the World. The Thar is segmented into very dry part in the western area and a semi-desert region in eastern area. The Geologists have predicted age of The Thar desert somewhere in between 4000 to 10000 years.

The fragile ecosystem of the Thar breeds and supports a unique and varied Wildlife and vegetation. Thar desert is the most populated desert in the world with 83 people per sqkm.

The Great Indian desert is largest producer of wool, contributing 40% to 50% of total wool production in India. The primary occupation of people in desert is agriculture and animal husbandry.

The skyline of Golden city is dominated by Jaisalmer Fort, a sprawling Royal citadel housing intricately carved Jain temples, mystical cafes, souvenir shops and ornate Maharaja’s Palace. The golden honey sandstone shines like molten gold under Sunshine.

Artistically carved Chattris, Temples, Shrines and Ghats surround the beautiful lake. The lake attracts different migratory birds and boating in lake is enchanting way to explore it.

The narrow streets of the old city lead to magnificent Patwa ki Havelis, one can peep into the culture of 19th century traders of Jaisalmer at Kothari’s Patwa Haveli Museum.

A privately owned museum of a local historian and folklorist L N Khatri is quite intriguing. The founder brings it all alive in his guided tour of the museum. The unique and charming manifestation of Culture and Rajasthan lifestyle is founded by a National Award winning teacher N.K Sharma. Enjoy the puppet show, living the folklore.

The war exhibits include vehicles and equipment captured during the course of operations in 1965 and 1971. The light and sound show at Museum brings alive glorious modern history of India.

Get a bird’s eye view of Jaisalmer Desert at a safe height Parasailing. After Parasailing explore the sand dunes with Dune bashing. Experience the thrill of riding a Quad bike in the Thar Desert.

An abandoned village of Kuldhara was once a prosperous village, established around 13th century. The local legend claims many Stories the most popular is about the curse imposed on the village about staying haunted and abandoned.
