The state of Jammu and Kashmir ( J&K ) comprises of three distinct regions and is the largest Himalayan state of India. Jammu and Kashmir has three distinct entities with different climate, flora, fauna and cultures.
Jammu, mainly the Hindu region lies in the foothills in the south of the state. The famous shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi has become synonymous with the state. Jammu is the winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir.
Srinagar and the Valley of Kashmir is mainly the Muslim region and is located in the center. The valley is known for its exotic beauty, stunning people and culture. Its famous for the divine abode of Shiva, barfani baba of Amarnath, beautiful lakes, Mughal gardens and wetlands. Srinagar is the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir.
Ladakh, the cold dessert form the eastern highlands across the great Himalayan axis and comprises of mainly the Buddhists. The shimmering lakes, mighty Indus and ancient Monasteries lend itself to this unique roof of Himalayas.
